Em agosto de 2022, o Governo das Ilhas Virgens Britânicas, editou sua legislação local, determinando nova regulamentação para empresas sediadas no território inglês e promovendo importantes mudanças para investidores no exterior. A aplicabilidade e efeitos da BVI Business Companies (Amendment) Act, 2022 (No. 6 de 2022), listadas abaixo, entrará em vigor em 1º de janeiro de 2023.

- Publicly Available Register of Directors**: The register of directors, which contains the names of individuals who make up the board of directors of a BVI-based company, will be public. Access to this register will be available for searches linked solely through the company name and upon payment of a service fee, intended for legitimate interest in identifying directors.
- Obrigatoriedade de entrega do Annual Report (Balanço) – Fica definido pela nova Lei que todas as estruturas sediadas nas Ilhas Virgens Britânicas devem entregar suas declarações financeiras respectivas aos anos fiscais, até 9 meses a contar do início do seu período fiscal, com propósito de perdurar em conformidade com a legislação local.
- Significant Control Members' Disclosure**: A legal framework is introduced regarding the registration and transmission of information related to individuals who hold significant control over companies in the British Virgin Islands, including directors, administrators, representatives, or shareholders.
- Abolição das Ações ao Portador (“Bearer share”) – As ações ao portador não podem ser emitidas e as existentes devem ser resgatadas ou convertidas em ações registradas (“registered shares”).
- Fim do Regime de Struck off – As empresas que caírem no status de “Struck off” (empresa congelada), pela não regularização das taxas governamentais, serão automaticamente dissolvidas após a publicação de aviso sobre a notificação (“struck off notice”).
